ETHEREUM 2.0 IS DEAD ?

  Developers and users alike have been waiting very patiently for Ethereum 2.0 to be complete — exasperated by congestion on the blockchain that has led to eye-wateringly high gas fees.

The move to a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism has been taking a lot longer than expected, not least because it's a huge technical undertaking. A fitting real-world comparison would be completely rebuilding your house while you continue to live in it.

And with no end in sight to the delays, we've had a rather unexpected update from the Ethereum Foundation: the term "Ethereum 2.0" is now being retired once and for all.

This doesn't mean that the ongoing work to scale the network is being abandoned. It simply means that, from now on, Ethereum 1.0 is being referred to as the "execution layer," while Ethereum 2.0 has been rebranded as the "consensus layer."

The blog post's authors went on to stress that the roadmap remains unaffected — and those involved in staking or the operation of validator nodes don't need to take any action.

kaduna government restore telecommunication network

Kaduna State government had, on September 30, announced the cut of telecommunication services to some local government areas in the state.

The Kaduna state government has announced the restoration of telecommunications networks in parts of the state initially closed since early October.

Kaduna had joined fellow Northwest states like Zamfara and Sokoto, who had earlier taken the same measure to curb banditry and rising insecurity.

The commissioner of the Ministry of Internal
Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, told reporters in Kaduna on Friday that “security agencies have notified the government that telecommunications services may be restored.”

Telecommunications networks had been shut down in the state in an attempt to control banditry and other insecurity problems in the state.

According to Aruwan, the shutdown of the telecommunications network was highly successful.

The Commissioner assured residents that the restoration of full services would be felt in the coming days.

Anthony Joshua drop to fifth in the latest World Boxing Association rankings

 

Former WBA heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has dropped to fifth in the latest World Boxing Association rankings.

Joshua lost his belts to Ukrainian heavyweight newcomer, Oleksandr Usyk in September. However, they have both agreed to a rematch billed for 2022.

Joshua was outclassed by Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in late September, losing his world heavyweight titles on a hugely difficult night.

Reports indicate that Usyk’s dominance in the fight and how the former champion performed, may have contributed to the governing body’s decision to drop his ranking among the top 10 heavyweight fighters.

Usyk claimed the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles with a brilliant display in London but will now have to honour his obligation of facing Joshua again rather than go for more gold.

In preparation for his rematch, Joshua has been on a tour of gyms in California and Texas, with hopes to improve his fighting.

Analysts are expecting a change or addition to his training team, as Joshua prepares to improve ahead of the rematch.

Should the 32-year-old reclaim his title, the chance opens up for a much anticipated undisputed clash with WBC champion Tyson Fury.
